This cave monastery complex was built by early Christians in the 11th century to protect their faith and lifestyle within this mystic place. As being notable for historic cave churches, the museum has a very deep and rich history since the 4th century.
Dark (Karanlik) Church; the best preserved in all of Cappadocia and a great example of 11th-century Byzantine art. The church's name possibly comes from a small oculus looking out of the narthex which only lets in a very small amount of light. This feature is what has preserved the richness of the pigments and allowed them to survive the passage of time.
Avanos Town; situated on every two sides of Red River (Kızılırmak), Avanos is one of the main tourist centres in the region. This fantastic town is famous for the pottery, silk, wool & carpet weaving, wine cultivation and agriculture. This wonderful place hosting countless civilizations reflects the visitors both natural and human-made masterpieces today.
Monk's (Pasabag) Valley; situated between the Goreme Village & Avanos Town. This breath-taking valley is known for its having wonderful landscape and the best various collection of fairy chimneys in the region. With this aspect, it reminds of the people's mind that the fascinating place looks like the museum of fairy chimneys. Also, its extraordinary scene creates a metaphysical world by relaxing the spirit of visitors.
Imagination (Devrent) Valley; also known as Alley/Defile (Devrent) Valley, is famous for its red colour lunar landscape with the best-formed and most thickly clustered different rock formations. The valley has never been inhabited but has many animal-shaped rocks formed by the forces of nature. Some of the most commonly seen shapes include a camel, snake, seals, and a dolphin. If you use your imagination, you can find many others.
Uchisar Castle; is located in Village of Uchisar which is the highest village of the region on between Nevsehir City & Goreme Village. Having a geostrategic position, this magnificent castle was used as an observatory for watching the whole region from the top to prevent enemy attacks.

Greek Village (Mustafapasa); is also famous for the beautiful neo-classical facades & the ornately carved stonework of these houses. On some, date or name has been finely written into the decorative stonework in Greek letters; something that still points to the thriving Greek Orthodox community of wealthy merchants who settled in the town in the late 18th & 19th centuries.
